FAQ

Am I too old for Lawberry Camp?

No. No one's too old for Lawberry Camp.

Who can attend Lawberry Camp?

Anyone interested in legal information.

Although it is being organized by academic law librarians, Lawberry Camp is not just for academic law librarians. Firm and court librarians are welcome as well, so feel free to forward the invitation to colleagues at other sorts of libraries.

We also welcome attorneys, professors, IT professionals, and other librarians who may be interested in legal information related issues.

Is Lawberry Camp for techies?

You don't have to be a technophile either! Last summer's Lawberry Camp had roundtable discussions of reference services, teaching, library management issues and other topics, in addition to academic technology. The unconference format depends on attendees deciding what they want to talk about, so it could potentially be anything.

Is Lawbwerry Camp Midwinter 2010 associated with ALA or AALL?

Lawberry Camp was scheduled on purpose to coincide with ALA Midwinter taking place in Boston, with the thought that it might draw people who are already in town for that, but it's not part of ALA Midwinter.

You also don't need to be a member of any organization to attend! Lawberry Camp Midwinter is independent and not officially affiliated with either ALA or AALL. (Although there was a Lawberry Camp day at AALL last summer and there will be another one there this summer.)

How can I help?

There are several ways you can help out:

You can register to attend, your participation is all that's required for a great event.

You can suggest and vote on roundtable topic discussions.

You can volunteer to deliver a lightening talk.

You can volunteer to create or present a battle decks presentation.

No seriously, how much does it cost?

Seriously, usually nothing. You have to take care of your own travel, accommodations, and meals.

How much does it cost to attend Lawberry Camp?

We are committed to making Lawberry Camp available as a free event. As we hold it in different locations we may need to charge a small fee to cover some minor expenses. But without speaker fees, or extensive planning Lawberry Camp expenses should remain minimal.

Occasionally we may also bring in sponsors to feed us or set up receptions.

What is Lawberry Camp?

Lawberry Camp is an unconference geared towards law librarians, legal information professionals, and others in realted fields.

Lawberry Camp schedules are flexible, with events often decided on the day of the camp, or leading up to the event. Generally Lawberry Camp will be a full day of activities...including lightning talks, open round table discussions, the exciting and fun Battledecks Powerpoint Karaoke competition, and potentially other events.
